Eco tourism:

- supports the well being of local people, stressing local ownership, as well as business opportunities for local people (especially in rural areas)
- has an educational component that creates awareness about nature conservation, both for tourists and local communities
- requires the lowest possible negative impact on the environment and on the socio – cultural component
- is conducted in smaller groups of people

According to the research by Euro barometer in 2009 the most important factor that determines the location for vacation for European people is nature. According to their research eco tourism is growing three times faster that classic tourism and it is expected that its share in global tourist market will be 20% within the next 20 years.

Eco-tourism: Perhaps the most over-used and misused word in the travel industry. But what does it mean? The Ecotourism Society defines it as "responsible travel to natural areas which conserves the environment and improves the welfare of the local people". A walk through the rainforest is not eco-tourism unless that particular walk somehow benefits that environment and the people who live there. A rafting trip is only eco-tourism if it raises awareness and funds to help protect the watershed. A loose interpretation of this definition allows many companies to promote themselves as something that they are not. If true eco-tourism is important to you, ask plenty of questions to determine if your trip will help "conserve and improve" the places you visit.

I visited Zlatna Greda in June 2004 for the first time. My friend and I came, sat down on the bench under the tree and waited for the Green Osijek crew to arrive. While waiting, I inhaled all of the Zlatna Greda magic that enchanted me and from then this magical place , where the first neighbor is live and rich forest, is a memory that I gladly recall...
